Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Right-armed Numbness, Which Aggravates Every Night At Bedtime, Be Treated?
In the last week and a half, I have been experiencing numbness in my right arm and hand, during the day, when working or other activities, it does not bother me, however at night when relaxing, and especially when I lay down at bedtime, it bothers me so bad that I have to get up and set in my easy chair to get relief.
By your history and description, the possibility of nerve compression on the right side is more likely.
Sleeping position in you is causing compression of brachial plexus which is causing this pain and numbness.
It is also known as thoracic outlet obstruction. So better to consult an orthopaedic doctor and get done MRI of the cervical spine, thoracic spine and thorax. Physiotherapy will be helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
