How Can Rosacea With Pimples Be Treated?

Hello, I am 33 years old female suffering from rosacea with pimples and enlarged pores. I was prescribed Glyco A 12% cream, but after 2 uses my skin got a lot worse: redness, pimples all over the face, burning sensation and itching. Also my skin got terribly dry and flaky, I can t even hide it under make-up. Everything I put on my faces stings... What would be your advice in this case? Thank you.

Hello,

I understand your concern for Rosacea. It is quite common in Caucasian skin to Rosacea get eruptions and related redness.

It is due to over proliferation and hypersensitivity of the blood vessels on the skin over the face. There are certain factors such as sun light, spicy food and alcohol which actually causes oversensitivity and eruptions.

The most important factor in prevention is by sun protection. A broad spectrum sunscreen is to be used 3 times per day. It is better to use a physical sunscreen then a chemical sunscreen. If you use a chemical sunscreen then it is better to use above SPF 30 which should be mainly gel bases rather than cream based one.

In my patient with your kind of problem I generally prefer to apply Azelaic acid gels with various percentage.
Meet a dermatologist if the lesions are not healing to get proper treatment.

All the best.
