How Can Scabies Be Treated?
HI my grandaughter was diagnosed with scabies although the doctor didnt do a skin graph at the time nor did he do any other test on her so the doctor gave her a cream called permethrin i put it on her and left it on for 14 hours on a Thursday night and her mom took her to the emergency room on the following sunday and the doctor there said that it was not scabies and they did a skin graph to comfirm that it was not. my question is it possible that the skin test was not positive because she had the medication put on her three days prior to the skin graph?

Doctors may prescribe this oral medication for people with altered immune systems, for people who have crusted scabies, or for people who don't respond to the prescription lotions and creams. Ivermectin isn't recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing, or for children who weigh less than 33 pounds (15 kg).
