Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 92 year old father has painful scabs on his scalp that ooze clear liquid and even bleed when the scab gets bumped. This has been going on for almost 3 months. He s been to his dermatologist repeatedly, had biopsies, ointments, medications, etc but nothing has helped. He is so upset by this. Is there anything to do to at least stop the oozing? ,thank you
Your symptoms seem to be related to scalp eczema, probably seborrhoeic dermatitis. I recommend using a shampoo with acetylsalicylic acid. I recommend also using a steroid lotion for local application.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
