How Can Scalp Tenderness And Sensitivity Be Treated?

I have a very tender section of my scalp in the back left. No trauma to the area. It feels like the nerves are tender but there are no visible signs of anything. No fever or any other symptoms. Hard to sleep on and can t rest back of head against pillow or headrest of recliner

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Scalp tenderness may be due to local cause like scalp infection, abscess or trauma.

Other causes may be migraine, tension-type headache or temporal arteritis or herpes zoster.

Are you having a headache, vomiting, nausea, photophobia, phonophobia, sleep disturbances? If yes, then certain neurological issues may be present and you should do a CT scan or MRI.

Use of local anesthesia is a short-lasting procedure. If required in cases of tension-type headache botox injection can be given.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
