How Can Seborrheic Dermatitis Be Treated?

I have been diagnosed by a dermatologist that I have seborrheic dermatitis in my scalp... I have tried Precscription solutions for my scalp, OTC, and home remedies. This has been going on for over three years... HELP!!!! Nothing helps thus far ...I think my hair is getting thinner also

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have seborrheic dermatitis which seems to be due to poor hygiene, yeast like infection malassezia that is in the oil secretion on the skin , inflammatory response related to psoriasis or in particular season.

I would suggest you to use over-the-counter anti-dandruff products, such as shampoo with pyrithione zinc or antifungal ketoconazole , do no scratch your skin and apply corticosteroid cream . If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe shampoos or ointments containing hydrocortisone, fluocinolone , oral antifungal like terbinafine or antibacterial like metronidazole .
