How Can Seizure Disorder Be Treated?

My wife has a seizure disorder. She was on Dialanton at first, didn t help much then they put her on Kepra which worked pretty good. She still had seizures but less frequent. The only down side she lost a serious amount of weight. She weened herself off the Kepra but her seizures have returned. Any recommendations of another Med she might try to combat the seizuires?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned, please follow like this-

1) Do a clinical examination by your treating doctor [Neurologist] and to confirm exact status do [MRI scan and Video EEG Test].

2) Discuss with your doctor for combination medications [lamotrigine and valproate] for best results. Start with a small dose and gradually increase it to achieve control.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this -

1) Try to avoid smoking and alcohol

2) Make a regular sleep pattern and sleep more than ten hours at night.

3) Make a plan to reduce stress and do regular exercise, yoga, and meditations.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
