Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I m 16 years old. I recently discovered that I have a septate hymen. Given that I m sexually active, I should get it removed, otherwise it could tear and cause problems. I got a tampon stuck about a week ago arouns the cord (I removed it). I tried to call my OBGYN to book an appointment, but she was away and the secretary was so rude, and so ignorant and told me that what I had didn t exist and ended the call, and my physician hasn t called back and it s been nearly a week. Should I just go to the ER instead and be directed through there sooner than be ridiculed and ignored? I m not entirely sure what to do.
Usually, septate hymen is repaired on its own when inserting the tampon or during sexual intercourse.
If still having pain or bleeding during intercourse can make an appointment with your gynecologist. Your case is not an emergency, so I do not recommend to go to ER this time. Unless you start bleeding heavily.
With regards to nurse acting, all I can say is that the answers we get depend on the questions we make. So be patient and try to ask your questions in the most suitable manner but always be patient.
All the best.
