How Can Severe Anxiety Be Treated While Suffering From ADD?

My 6 year old son has been diagnosed with ADD. I am concerned as he also has a lot of anxiety about school, being away from family, and is very sensitive to feedback (cries easily). The therapist who evaluated him recommended medication and in doing my research many of the side effects of the ADD meds cause anxiety. What one would be best in his situation?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I am sorry for the health problems your 6 year old son is going through. I think he needs more psychological support. Along with you, you should schedule therapeutic psychological appointment with psychologist to help him overcome anxiety. However, this requires time.

If this won't help, then should discuss with his doctor to change therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
