How Can Severe Anxiety Be Treated?

I become extremely fearful when riding in a vehicle with someone else driving, especially in heavy traffic. I am used to being in control and usually am in the driver s seat. As a rider, I have so much anxiety it makes me a nervous wreck. My doctor has prescribed Buspar as needed. Will it work?

hello,Its good you are here when you are having some doubts,I would like to tell you that its the belief that you feel safer when you are driving, you mentioned for most of the times you are on the driver's seat so this feeling of little anxiety when someone else is driving can be felt by you. There can be many reasons:Is there any history of accident when you were riding and someone else was driving?or you met with any accident recently when you were on driving seat?because the fear of the accident can be there inside and thats bringing the anxiety. If its getting out of control then good to consult a doctor in person. you already have done it and its better to take medical help. The medicine you are taking is for generalized anxiety and depression.it should work for your condition.Do follow the treatment advice by your doctor.Talk openly about the way you feel in the visits you should be going. The counselling sessions are helpful. If the doctor feels things have turned much better then he/she ll advice you for how long to take it.In case the doc feels any changes in the treatment are necessary then he/she will suggest you what to do next or what medicine to take.Along with it you should visit a psychologist,he/she ll help you to learn how to manage the anxiety. Also try doing some exercise daily and meditation,it helps to improve positivity and confidence once you understand how to deal with it ,you will see the change.good luck and any further doubts do not hesitate to contact doctors here.
