General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Thanks for writing to us.

The treatment for arthritis is based on the cause of the arthritis. Arthritis that happens due to old age may cause rubbing of the bones together due to reduced joint space.

Treatment for arthritis starts with painkiller drugs and then progresses to surgery in advanced cases.

The aim of the surgery would help to reduce the pain. Some people find taking painkiller injections useful as well. Seeing an orthopedician would be useful as well.

I hope this helps you.
