How Can Severe Backache After An Accident Be Treated?
My mom was recently in a car accident and had emergency surgery due to a break of her C6 vertebra. She does not want to take narcotics but is experiencing a significant amount of pain. I would like to help her find a physician who is reputable and can help her with pain management. Do you have any suggestions about where to start?
hi sir/mam,I can understand your worry.you can go for cervical facet joint block.it gave many promising results to most of my patients.for this, you need to consult an anaesthesiologist or a pain specialist.procedure involves injection of local anaesthetic with or without corticosteroid into inter vertebral facet joint of cervical region under fluoroscopic(x-ray) guidance.pain relief can be immediate or may take few hrs to 2 days and lasts longer.that would be the best treatment modality for your mother.it has got very few or no side effects unlike narcotics.its an office based procedure.after completion of procedure, patient is made to lie supine for 30min and then can ambulated.on the same day she can go home.hope i’m clear.any further doubts are always entertained promptly.thank you.wish you and your family a very happy, healthy and successful new year 2018.take care.bye.
