How Can Severe Body Ache Due To Degenerated Disc Disease Be Treated?

I have degenerated disc disease and prscription pain killers leave me with migraines, which have suffered from most all life. Doctors have tried me on all the morphones, all the codones and every other opiod painkiller could name. Why do all of them cause usually, hang-over headaches except methadone and possibly oxycontin? These are the most stigmatized and is almost impossible to get a doctor to prescribe these days/ am desperate for bodily pain relief all the time!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Side effects of certain medications may trigger the symptoms of migraine. Get treated for migraine & talk to your treating doctor about what medications suit you better & help you stay comfortable.

You can inform your doctor & take the medications that help you stay comfortable.

Degenerated disc disease does cause pain & there is, unfortunately, no permanent cure.

Yes, you can take the help of physical & occupational therapists & stop your DDD to worsen. Certain exercises, losing weight, medications or surgery do help to stay comfortable.

Facet joint injections effectively reduce pain. Do not get addicted to medications & injections, lose weight & go for regular exercises & switch to a healthy lifestyle.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
