How Can Severe Chest Pain Be Treated?

Hi um. I live in Jamaica but im giving this a try. Ive been haviing a lot of pain in my chest. It could be anxiety but Im not sure. I feel the pain in my heart too. It isnt mind numbingly painful but it hurts all the same and I end up massaging my chest and I feel trappedd, almost like I cant breathe or survive. Ive been under a lot of stress lately from work and I want to resign because I cant handle it anymore and my body feels like i cant go on anymore.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since you are dealing with a lot of stress, possibility of anxiety related chest pain is more likely. But better to first rule out heart diseases for your chest pain. So get done blood pressure monitoring, ECG and 2d echo. If all these are normal then no need to worry for heart diseases. Consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution. You will mostly improve with anxiolytic drugs and counselling sessions. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
