How Can Severe Cough And Excess Mucus In The Throat Be Treated?
hi, my doctors say I have a hiatial hernia, I ve been sick for over a week now, not showing up as much only twice in the last few days. the problem is that I m also coughing a lot and constantly spitting up light mucus or saliva. what can I do to stop this?
A hiatus hernia can cause recurrent aspiration and this, in turn, causes bronchitis. So consult pulmonologist and get done a clinical examination of the respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about the severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only.
You will mostly improve with inhaled bronchodilators (Formoterol or Salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (Budesonide or Fluticasone.)
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar,
Pulmonologist
