Hi, Im 32 year old female with a kid of 6.8 years old. Im having dandruff problem from right from teen age and had oily skin that time. Till now dandruff will come n go often. I have irregular periods problem also. Recently dandruff increased and if i comb or scrap hair with hands dandruff is falling like white dots with mild itching sometimes. Dermatologist told might be scalp psoriasis and asked me to use Tarry Shine shampoo, Grow care hair oil and a lotion and asked me to come after 3 weeks. I dont feel i have psoriasis since i dont have patches in head. but i agree i have white dots in my head which are falling if i comb. Please help me to find wat infection i have and how to treat this? Im scared i should not get psoriasis since its a permanent disease.

How Can Severe Dandruff Be Treated?
Hello, The key to scalp infections is poor hygiene. Cut your hair to a shorter length so that it is easy to manage. Keep your scalp clean by washing it with Selsun (Selenium sulfide) shampoo. Keep scalp oiled (an oil that suits your scalp). Selenium sulfide reduces dandruff, itching, flaking, irritation & redness of the scalp. To rule out psoriasis visit a dermatologist & get your scalp, skin, nails examined. If needed get skin biopsy done. Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected & its severity. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
