How Can Severe Debilitating Depression Be Treated?

Hi, my brother, who has severe, debilitating depression just started taking this med,he is having good results. I have more of a situational depression myself. I have not been on an antidepressant in many years. I do have a seizure disorder. Completely controlled on meds. Can this antidepressant be of use to me?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Which antidepressant drug is your brother taking? Depression is a mood disorder and if he is on antidepressants then most likely he is on SSRIs or SNRI drugs.

Fluoxetine, Escitalopram, Sertraline etc are SSRI drugs while Venlafaxine, Duloxetine etc are SNRI drugs. These drugs help to treat the depression symptoms and have great efficacy. So if you think that you have depression then please visit a psychiatrist for evaluation and take proper treatment.

Thanks and Take care
