How Can Severe Fibromyalgia Be Treated?

I have fibromyalgia plus deg disc disease with arthritis in my facet joints. Recently had shots to kill nerves causing pain. Which seemed to work but my fibro expecially in back, legs and feet are hurting me. I ve been taking hydrocodone w/actem 10 mg/325 mg. It was not taking away pain anymore and she prescribed a fentanyl patch at the lowest dosage. I m afraid as I also have sleep apnea and can not use cpap. Has this patch been useful w/fibro pain and it is alot more addictive than the hydrocodone?

Hello,

As a first line management analgesics like Tramadol or Gabapentin can be tried. It is a difficult condition to cure. Emotional support is an important aspect of treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
