How Can Severe Knee Pain After Knee Replacement Surgery Be Treated?

I have had total knee replacement surgery 7 days postoperative and have had really excruciating sciatic pain since day one. I have hade the steroids and have not helped at all. I was given OxyContin with Tylenol to take home but it doesn t touch the pain. Is there anything that helps this pain?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan to rule out ligament or tendon injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
