How Can Severe Neuropathic Pain Be Treated?

Hi I m 48 y o woman with history of FM and CFIDS. Recently endured workplace bully over prolonged period of time (I was good for about 6 months then, tripped into a new type and level of pain) and currently experiencing a new symptom of neuropathic pain, burning up and my cervical, thoraic and lumbar spine. It was like a light switch went on over the course of three days and appears to not be letting up. Could or will this likely be permanent? Currently treated with lower doses Lyrica 75mg x 2/day but if I forget a dose or don t want to stay on this med what are my options. Pain mangement Lidocaine IV and ketamine are bee3n abandoned due to very limited results.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take drugs like Gabapentin for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
