How Can Severe Pain After A Carpal Tunnel Surgery Be Treated?

6 weeks ago I had carpal tunnel surgery. My surgery was performed by an orthopedic hand surgeon at one of the state s leading hospitals. The pain is unbarable and as intense as it was prior to the surgery. Yesterday during my post-op appointment, the doctor said all was well and I had healed nicely. When I asked when I could expect some relief from the horrible pain told me it could take two years for the nerves to heal, if ever. I am still in shock. I can t imagine that there is nothing that can be done to relieve the severe pain. I don t know where to turn. Any advice as to where I should turn would be appreciated.

Hi,

I am really sorry that you are in pain. It is true that the nerves need it's time to heal. Meanwhile you can try over the counter or prescribed medication to treat the pain. You can try Ibuprofen three times a day.
