How Can Severe Pain After A Hip Surgery Be Treated?

My sister is in hospital to be released today. Had 2nd Hip surgery, 2nd for complications of 1st done by another Ortho surgeon. Had been on Oxycodone (short acting) and MS ER, use of both helped immediately postop after first surgery. Now on Oxycodone IR & Oxycontin. Would like her to have extended release med with short acting for severe pain in between. Is this what she is getting with Oxycodone IR and Oxycontin? Thanks

Hi,

Oxycodone and Oxycontin are both names given to different pharmaceutical formulations of the same opioid medication. Oxycodone IR is immediate release preparation and you can go for Oxycodone ER which is the extended release formulation for sustained action.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
