How Can Severe Pain And Fatigue Due To A Meningioma Be Treated?

I have a Meningioma diagnosed 2000, it is on the part of the brain (cavernous sinus) so they haven t wanted to remove it. The trigeminal nerve has been affected and early on in 2000 , I was put on Tegretol and did fine. Taking 200 mgm at night, The pain eventually came back with a vengeance and was put back on the Tegretol 100 mgm bid. I am so exhausted and cannot function during the day. I can t even take a deep breath. What is this all about. The pain and electric shocks are gone but the side effects are horrible!!!!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can consider higher end analgesics like oxycodone or hydrocodone for pain relief. If the pain is so severe, you can consider surgical procedures to desensitise the trigeminal nerve.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
