How Can Severe Pain Around A Surgical Scar Be Treated?
My husband has a large scar from the removal of his gall bladder 3 years ago. It is very painful and receives litocain injections into the scar to relieve the pain. The Dr. Who does his injections says she thinks it s time for him to Consider another surgery to clean up the scar because the injections only relieve the pain temporarily. What is your opinion on this ? Carla Rundell YYYY@YYYY

How Can Severe Pain Around A Surgical Scar Be Treated?
Hello, As you describe it probably is a bad scar. It means that it is a hypertrophic scar, that makes skin to be overstretched and causes pain. He cannot continue anymore with Lidocaine injections. He should do a surgery to remove this scar. It is the only solution. Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
