How Can Severe Pain Due To Shoulder Bursitis Be Treated?

I have shoulder bursitis. Anti-inflammatory drugs do not work. I do strength training in a regular basis. But I stopped for about a month to let my shoulder heal. This has worked in the past, but this time the pain will not go away. So I have gone back to the gym, and am just dealing with the pain. Do I run the risk of causing serious damage to my shoulder?
