How Can Severe Pain In The Ankles Be Treated?

Yesterday, I was jumping and had headphones in and when I landed, i had immediate pain right under my right lateral malleolus, everyone around me said that when I landed there was a very loud snapping sound, it was sore for a few minutes, bruised slightly, but like 30 minutes later, I was running and the pain in the same spot came back but worse and I fell to the ground a certain way to where I wouldn t injury myself further, just curious about what might be going on.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and would like to tell you that most likely you have sprained your ankle because of which you are experiencing the pain on movement. There is also a chance that you may have suffered from a fracture which can only be confirmed on a X-ray of the ankle joint. Further course of treatment will depend on the diagnosis. Meanwhile you should keep icing the area and you can take an over the counter painkiller like aceclofenac to reduce the pain and inflammation. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
