How Can Severe Pain In The Calf Be Treated?

I have very bad calf pain. I have had this for 10 years. It startef off as a very slight pain in late afternoon. Then as years went on, the intensity increased and I would feel it all afternoon. Now it has increased to the point that my pain is constant and gets worse with walking. Activities such as gardening leave me very fatigued and I have to quit. An okd NRI told the doctor that it was in my back. But it doesn t hurt me there and it never has. And the pain gets worse. I did have a blood clot test that showed nothing, but that was 10 years ago. I did have physical therapy, acupuncture, cold laser, nothing helps and now my things that I used to do are getting very difficult. I also had a sonogram by a vein doctor which showed nothing 10 years ago.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Kindly get the Doppler ultrasound of your leg done to see if you have deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Maybe 10 yrs. ago there was no pathology. But you are complaining of Intermittent Claudication which is a classic sign of DVT.

So kindly get investigation done and get back to us. Based on the reports we can plan for the treatment.

Hope this information helps you sort out your problems. If you feel it’s helpful then kindly give me a user thank vote.
Happy Health!
Regards,
Dr. Archana
