How Can Severe Pain In The Feet And Knees Be Treated?

Hi, I m a hiker and usually hike between 3-10 miles 3 times a week. I suffer from sciatica and I know many stretches that offer relief. My symptoms are getting worse, no matter how much I stretch. The pain is severe when going down the stairs or hiking down a hill. It feels like I m getting stabbed in the knee and the bottom of my foot burns to the point I can barely stand on it. Any suggestions?

hi sir/mam,i can understand your agony.if i'm not intruding into your lifestyle,a small piece of advice, please avoid hiking, standing or sitting for long time, strenous exercise, abnormal postures for atleast the next 6months.rest is the first and foremost medicine for your symptoms.you can also go for analgesic course for 1 week.cause of sciatica might mostly be a slipped or degenerative or swollen intervertebral disc at your lumbar spine.it can be confirmed by an MRI.a facet joint block(an injection containing local anaesthetic with or without a long acting steroid is given at the intervertebral disc under the guidance of fluoroscopy or CT) would help in reducing pain to a greater extent and also lasts long.you can consult a pain therapist or an anaesthesiologist and discuss the above procedure.hope my answer clears most of your queries.any other medical issues, please let me know.i'm always ready to address your concerns.thank you.i wish you and your family a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year 2018 in advance.take care.bye.
