Welcome to the Healthcare magic platform,
Heel pain is a common problem in which the pain occurs either under the heel or just behind it. There can be number of causes of the heel pain which can only be diagnosed after detailed history and clinical examination supplemented with number of radio-graphs.
Common reasons could be heel
bursitis (inflammation of the back of the heel primarily affect the tendon),
Plantar fasciitis (inflammation under the heel area),
nerve compression or entrapment, tendon rupture, heel spur, bone cyst, gout (increased level of uric acid), neuropathy or
rheumatoid arthritis etc.
As per your presentation of pain, you might have plantar fasciitis in which the pain occurs with first steps in the morning or after sitting for a while. Being
overweight can also place excess pressure on your feet. It is advised that you take an appointment from general physician (do not rush for emergency) to come to a definitive diagnosis of your heel pain. Only then the proper treatment can be done. Meanwhile, avoid walking long distances or standing for a long time, take some painkiller such as
ibuprofen, wear comfortable shoes such as running shoes and remain calm as every problem has a solution.
Please feel free to ask me if you have any further questions. If you want to discuss your problem in detail, then reply back with detailed presentation of your symptoms.
Cheers,
Dr. Khoja
