How Can Severe Pain In The Knee Be Treated?

I have been taking Norco 5/325 for about 5 months to help with a damaged knee. I am unable to take time off until December to have surgery and have been getting several types of injection therapy and using ice. the Norco has been helping, but is becoming less effective- my question is- should I start taking 2 at a time, or ask for a different type of pain med?

Hi,

Norco is a contains opioid which has a risk of abuse and long term side effects like kidney problems.

The body became tolerant of this drug and in long run, you make require more dosage to see the result. Hence I advise you to treat the main cause of knee pain.

Options are
1. surgical - knee replacement by orthopedician
2. genicular nerve radiofrequency ablation done by pain physician.

Both result in correction of primary pain and give you a better quality of life with non-dependency of drugs. Continue knee muscle strength exercises like quadriceps muscles
hydration, multivitamins, antioxidants like vitamin E supplements, eat more green salads.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
