Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A few days ago, I was playing floor hockey. I clashed sticks with someone at full speed, and ended up tripping over the other persons stick. I cushioned my fall by sticking my left arm behind, and falling full force on it. I had a dull pain for two days. I woke up this morning, with incredible pain. It hurt to lift my arm to brush my hair, put my arm in my coat, and wear my backpack. I can t lift it up or really move it too much without pain.It s tender, sore, and I don t know if it s worth going to a doctor for.
I understand your concern about the condition. Being unable to use your hand can be quite distressing, especially if it is associated with pain. Given your history, it would be advisable that you use ice packs to reduce the pain. It is very helpful in injuries less than 3-4 days. But if this doesn't help in a day it is advisable that you go see the doctor, as there are a few injuries which might seem minor, but can later cause a lot of trouble; such as ligament or tendon tear, which though less common than simple sprain, need immediate medical attention.
Hope you get well soon.
I hope I have cleared up your query. Feel free to ask any other queries you may have.
Thanks again.
