How Can Severe Pain In The Left Thigh Be Treated?

I am very athletic (martial Arts) and in January recieved a kick to the outer thigh of my left leg. Since that strike I have had a sudden and very painful feeling in the area as I would stand up after a period of sitting. I countinue to work out and do daily activities but it now seems to be getting worse. I can feel an ache at rest. Should I see a Dr? and what type do I start with?. I see a neurologist on a regular basis for epilepsy, but other than that I only go for a yearly physical

General Surgeon 's  Response
When you sustained the injury to your left thigh, you did have contusion of the muscles and soft tissues of the thigh. It is also possible that there could be tear to some muscle fibers. What is most important in healing the injured tissues is to give rest to the part. Doing workouts will only worsen the condition. Please rest your left lower limb till complete healing of the injured soft tissues, and complete relief of pain. Then you may start workouts, but with gradual increasing intensity to the left thigh muscles.
