How Can Severe Pain In The Lower Abdomen Be Treated?

I was rear-ended while stopped at a school crossing by a woman who was texting. My lower back revealed a protruding disk and my abdomen had mild pain. Over time, the pain seems to get worse. I had a CAT Scan but not an MRI of my abdomen. My accident was on Oct 17th, Tuesday and I was wondering if I should get an MRI. The pain is on my abdomen lower right side. It hurts if I squeeze it with my hand.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since the pain is worsening, it would be best to have further imaging done as soon as you can. Your doctor should be able to arrange this for you. Hopefully the MRI would be able to clearly determine the reason for the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
