How Can Severe Pain In The Lower Back And Hips Be Treated?

I am experiencing excruciating pain in my lower back and hips. My husband says there is a little ball like thing that moves in the area that hurts me the worst. I have not lifted anything or done anything to pull a muscle, so I can personally rule that out.
