How Can Severe Pain In The Lumbar Spine Be Treated?

Had surgery on my lumbar spine. Inserts are holding me together. I had scoliosis surgery 9 years ago. About a year and a half ago the pain I was left with got worse. Learned that fancy New York doctor did a lousy job. My spine fractured and the lower part of the spine was held together by crap. The rods had been measured wrong. So it was time to fix things. After the surgery done closer to home I continued to have worse pain. Six months later after begging my surgeon for help he opened me up and found a massive staph infection. The inserts were removed and I was put n a Picc line for six weeks and then oral antibiotics for another Six weeks. Then it was back for another surgery to have the inserts put back. Three back surgeries in nine or ten months. I am in pain. It s been about 2 1/2 months. I have pain meds I use sparingly. I am going to return to work soon and am looking for something else. Do you think a TENS unit might help.
