Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have arthritis in both hips. I had my left hip replaced in Oct. Right hip is getting worse but I don t want to have surgery yet. what can I take to help ease the pain in my right hip?... nothing seems to help I tried iboprofen, tyenol and nothing seems to help. what is the strongest pain medication I can buy over the counter?
-Avoid the activities that cause the pain. -Applying an ice pack to the area where you are feeling the pain can reduce inflammation and make your hip feel better. -Compression and elevation can help. -Take weak opioid painkillers such as Codeine. These are usually, added to another painkiller such as Paracetamol.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
