How Can Severe Pain In The Thighs And Knees Be Treated?

Hello Dr.! I am on 600 mg of Daypro now. Does not seem to be effective. I was in a bad car accident and was hurt on my left side from my hip down to the bottom of my feet. My thighs and knees seem to be more painful than the rest of me. I am also in physical therapy, very difficult because I hurt so much. Can you give me some suggestions that I can ask my doctor in order to help me?

Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to the injury post-accident.

I suggest using over the counter noninflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen.

I also suggest continuing physical therapy.

If the pain continues I suggest asking your doctor about prescription painkillers such as Gabapentin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
