How Can Severe Watery Stools In A Child Be Treated?

Doctor my son is three years old was vomiting yesterday and vomited near about 9times but from today after giving ondem it stopped but loose stool started severely watery stools what to give him now He is not taking food and his belly seems as full all time ?

Hello,

If I were your treating doctor, I would suggest the following.

1) To rule out food poisoning, i.e., does the child had any food other than homemade preparations?
If yes consult your general practitioner, as he may prescribe antibiotics to treat the condition.

2) Is the child active, i.e., responds to your call, interacts with you?
Then need not panic, adequate rehydration with oral rehydration solution (ORS) would help. You can give up to 250mL every hour orally.

3) If you notice blood in stool, immediately consult your general practitioner.
