Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was bending down while holding my 15lb. grandson and when I stood up, I experienced a sharp pain in the calf of my right leg. It felt like a rubber band snapped. It hurt a lot and is currently purple and tender to the touch. Did I pop a vein? How do I treat this? Thank you!
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Sharp pain in the right calf what you have experienced is due to muscle pull and muscle sprain. Kindly do the following to overcome it. 1. Take tablet containing Ibuprofen with Chloroxazone twice daily after food. This medication contains analgesic with muscle relaxant. 2. Apply analgesic ointment or gel over the affected region at bedtime. Gradually, you should be able to overcome the symptoms and be back to normal. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
