How Can Shingles Be Treated?
My husband has had shingles nerve damage for 2 1/2 years. He takes Gabapentin (1200 mg 3 x a day). While this usually helps, he s starting to have some personality issues (anxiety, worry, shorter temper, etc). We realize it s a side effect of the drug, but today I was talking to someone about this and they said they take Amitriptaline and don t have these problems. I read about it and I think the part about it being an anti-depressant is just what he need. Do you take both or just the one?

i can understand your concern. Shingles pain can be very severe and difficult to manage at times.
Along with gaba pentin, 10mg of amitryptilline at bed time can be given. this combination is routinely prescribed. amitryptilline has both anti depressant and pain relief in neuropathic pain.
Kindly consult your doctor for a valid prescription of amitryptilline.
