How Can Shortness Of Breath While Suffering From COPD Be Treated?

I am 69 yr old female, diagnosed with COPD. I use oxygen but I am noticing that shortness of breath is extreme when I stand or walk and even with oxygen on, my oxygen level reads between 70-80 when I stand or walk. I have been confined to house for 3 weeks now because I just don t feel confident to be able to walk very far to be able to go to store, church etc.

First of all COPD causes air flow obstruction...that's the main reason why you're experiencing breathlessness...usually in copd patients spo2 will be in the range of 65-75mm hg..Do you get breathlessness on rest? or oly while doing mild exercise or work..? if u get breathlessness at rest that means the copd is severe...the oly medical treatment available currently is oxygen administration and nebulization with ipratropium bromide or theophylline in severe cases....surgical treatment is not that effective...there is lung transplantation n lung volume reduction surgery....and one advice do limit ur daily activities do not do any heavy work ,take rest..and don't stop ur meds n oxygen adm..do it regularly hope u get well soon....I hope this resolved you're issue's
