How Can Shoulder Blade Area Pain Be Treated?

Hi My dad is 84 years of age and has had shingles for 8 months now although the skin has healed completely he still suffers from the pain in his shoulder blade coming around the arm to his breast. He was diagnosed too late and anti-virals did not help. Please help
