How Can Shoulder Numbness And Weakness Be Treated?

A couple of months ago I lifted something heavy up to my head level while sitting. The next day I noticed weakness in my left shoulder and some numbness in my left tricep muscle. a couple of days later I was unable to lift my left arm at all, and its been that way since then. I have no pain, but still have some numbness in my tricep. What can this be?
