How Can Shoulder Pain Caused By A Methotrexate Shot Be Treated?

I m taking sulfursalzine for quite a number of years. My firxt doctor retired so I sought another one from mt. Sinai in nyc. He gave me an injection of methotrexate in the shoulddr which affected my shoulder. I got terrible pzi so bad I could not lift my arms for a long time. When I told him that, he said it wasn t the injection, it wzs because my ra had progresses eveven though I had no problem before the injection.. now he wants me to add arava to sulfursaldine, three sulfas zll at once and one arva. Doex this sound right? I m afraid to add arva beczuse of shzt happened last time when he injected me with methatrate. Pls advise. Thanks

Hi,

Transient pain over shoulder after shot can be possibly physiologic. Primary relief with ice application and analgesic, if persistent later then call office of your doctor for further assistance.
