Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife is currently on Lamotrigine 200mg tables and has started having many of the noted symptoms. We have attempted to contact her doctor; however, he is currently on vacation and will not return until 5/11. Should we discontinue the drug completely or start decreasing the amount.
Lamotrigine may have side effects and sometimes may be pretty annoying. However, stopping it abruptly is not a wise decision. If the symptoms are mild and not too much, you should only reduce the dose until you see your doctor.
However, if you have serious side effects like a severe rash or any other severe side effects you may need to stop it abruptly. In such cases always go to the ER if you can't contact your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
