How Can Sinus Headache, Sneezing And Stuffy Nose Be Treated?

My daughter has very bad fall allergies - sinus headache, sneezing, stuffy nose, drainage and overall feels like crap. Has always had this but this year is bad. What OTC medicine would be good. She is in grad school and works and generally needs something that does not make her drowsy. We have tried Clariton and it does not work. Any help would be appreciated

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Stuffy nose, sneezing and sinus headache are all symptoms associated with nasal allergy.
It would be ideal for her to take Tablet. Levocetirizine with Montelukast medication during allergic season to overcome such symptoms. Steam inhalation would also help in addition aiding easy drainage of mucous from the sinuses.
Headache can be relieved by intake of analgesic medication like Ibuprofen.
She needs to avoid cold item intake such as cool drinks and ice-creams during such season.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
