hi doctor sadly my dear sister died over a month ago and been grieving ever since i know time is a healer ive cut back on alcohol since well totally stopped etc which is a positive but my smoking has increased rapidly i smoke 20 a day sometimes 30 fast and chain smoke one after the other ive seem to got the taste for it and im starting to feel slight pain lower tummie area also throat i want to quit but when i feel down or sad think deep i light up any advise thanx jim p.s. im 50

The best option for you would be to start bupropion. It is an anti-depressant which also reduces craving for tobacco. Thus it will have a dual benefit for you. It will help you in cutting down smoking and also make you feel better. Please consult your doctor and discuss this option.

Alcohol and also smoking are usually stimulants of gut secretion and / or reflux. Proton pump inhibitors are very helpful for that.
