Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughter was seen for a sore throat and started on Amoxilcillin despite having a negative rapid strep test. Once she started the meds, the pain in her thorat has worsened, primarily when swallowing and her fever has gone up. I am wondering if this is an allergic reaction and if I should stop the amoxil?
I think she is not suffering an allergic reaction since she does not have any breathtaking problems or urticaria that is red spots on the skin. There is not a reason to stop treatment. Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for high body temperature. May there is even flu or cold.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
