Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My teenage daughter started out with sore throat yesterday, then runny nose and light fever. Occasionally feeling nauseated. Light fever today up to 100.1 F ; now she says she s been sensitive to light the whole day and her neck is hurting. Is this still a cold? Or do I have to assume meningitis? fever never went up high.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of runny nose and sore throat which is due to upper respiratory infection due to poor immunity of your body. I would suggest you to take throat soothing agents. You should take combination of antibiotic Levofloxacin along with antihistamine such as Levocetirizine. You should take cough expectorants. You should do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Does not seems to be meningitis You should get blood test done as to detect level of infection and treatment can be started accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
