How Can Sore Throat Be Treated?

Hello. I ve been dealing with a cold for a week. symptoms are almost gone except for a sore throat. never had a fever during the cold. throat only looks irritated and I ve been using hot tea and salt water gargle and popsicles to soothe. However, I have a pea size bump on the back of my tongue near my throat. It doesn t appear to be white or red. It doesn t hurt until I swallow because my throat muscle is making contact and flicking the hard bump. That part hurts. I do not have tonsils. Any ideas what it could be?
